Happy Sunday to all!

I have some exciting news to share!!
TPM was started 266 editions ago in May 2020, a couple of months into the pandemic as an outlet documenting lessons, best practices, research, articles, and biographies around youth sport. It brought together some of the findings from a lifelong involvement in youth sport as an athlete, teacher, coach, parent, administrator and volunteer.
Over the course of 266 editions, we have examined so many topics and received so much input from so many. It has been a labor of love, a project that I started without knowing where it would go.
Personally, it has been great therapy in a way. In my working career, I have never taken on a project just because I wanted to. I had family and professional considerations, and for a long time had to consider how much time I could dedicate to such a venture after those priorities. Along the way, I confirmed something I was only suspicious of in the past : I love writing. The 266 + 1 has given me the opportunity to practice. A fun byproduct, and maybe a lesson in starting something just for fun.
The pandemic changed the time window for all of us. Our worlds were changed in so many ways. Most of us, I think, are still wondering what happened. It all seems like a blur as we look back.
Since 2018, my coaching itch was not being scratched. For the first time in 30+ years, I was watching from the sidelines. I wondered what to do. I got back to my roots and did some fitness /strength and conditioning coaching. Assisting young athletes with preparing and recovering for athletic performance rejuvenated me.
in 2020, as that was starting to get momentum, that was interrupted. Without the pandemic, The Physical Movement may never have been started.
Fast forward 266 editions later and we are more than halfway through 2024!
The itch to support young athlete performance is still there. I hope it never leaves. While there are many more topics to cover in The Physical Movement, and I will continue to do so for a bit, there will be a transition.
Transition?
A NEW publication and resource will be created focusing on the mental side of young athlete performance. I will be partnering with a very well respected and experienced coach who is making a massive difference helping young athletes with their hitting in baseball.
I have witnessed the power of these teachings firsthand. They have impacted my son tremendously in his performance on the field, and enjoyment of the sport over the last 7 years. I look forward to sharing that part of our journey and tapping into the teachings that have helped hundreds, if not thousands of others in one of the more difficult skills in sport. Our motivation is to get this information out to as many who can benefit as possible. Baseball/softball athletes, coaches, parents and anyone who wants to explore skill development beyond just the physical.
I won’t spill too much more, but I will say the learnings/ teachings are refreshing and apply to many skills/aspects of life, not just baseball/softball hitting.
I am very excited to share this with you shortly and how you be a part of our new community.
Again, thank you for your ongoing support.
As a subscriber to The Physical Movement, you will get first access to the new publication with some benefits to boot!
In the meantime, I will share some of the top articles from the last 266 editions.
The one below was the top viewed article from TPM library. From October 2021.
Enjoy.
